Well here I am, sat in front of the laptop at 21:45 on Monday 25th having cycled 204 miles over 5 days (16 short of my target sadly) and with more aches and pains from Becci at Iveridge Hall after she gave me ' 'relaxing' sports massage than from the cycling itself.
Okay so it was ME who put the aspirational word 'relaxing' into that sentence.
Today, the last day of the 5, was a 56-miler. A beast of a day but made easier by the weather and with the smile on my face from the fun yesterday morning when my mate Diana joined me for a near-20 mile ride bless her. Hmm think she said she was sore and is currently sat in a bath of Sudocream. Now wash that image from your mind please (although the cooling effects would be delightful I'm sure).
Back to work tomorrow and promises of a rubber ring to sit on. Fortunately that won't be necessary; not because I'm unscarred but it simply wouldn't work. You see I think the saddle must be welded to my bum or at least that's what it feels like!!
So day off training tomorrow but then back for a PT session Wednesday and Thursday night (the latter of which will be followed by another delightful massage experience from Becci at Iveridge Hall. Note to self, check whether she's old enough to have had SS training in the past?!?!

Well here we are
Well after a lay-off training and the blog (death of my father, youngest daughters illness and ... well ... just some apathy I guess) the last 5 weeks have been hell for leather.
In the first 3 weeks at the gym I lost 2 inches off my waist, reduced both my BMI and body fat % to a point that if I do the same again before Cuba I'll be classified as healthy. And muscle growth? Don't even get me started : )
Of course the real test has been back on the bike and 18, 24, 30 and 44-mile days have been the steadily increasing norm with a 100-mile 3-day weekend again not so long ago but tomorrow is the real test, the 'pilot', the 'live proving' when I embark on a 5-day 220-mile bike ride in the UK.
Okay so maybe the weather will mean it has to be a hill climb setting on the posh bikes at the health club (uww get me, 'health club' not a common and garden gym now) but whilst my legs and lungs are all ready for it, it's the saddle that will prove this biggest issue I'm sure.
A bloke I know (young Ed Greig for those of you from CFS reading this) sent me a text after his 7-seat bike expereince from John O'Groats to Lands End which said: -
"Use plenty of chamois cream, it was a lifesaver for us. The eurostyle stuff was like a pants party every time"
He makes me smile he does.
Okay, I'll keep me and you updated on my progress. Or not, as the case may be.
